Art gets smart at Glencoe Primary School
Drawings and paintings are good for the soul, as it is relaxing and calming.
Only two words can be used to describe art classes at Glencoe Primary: fun and exciting.
From making cushion covers, to just drawing. Each lesson was simply just fun in 2015.
“Some of our school’s learners have even won a few prizes through art. Our lessons are part of the school’s program for grade 4 to 7 learners that are interested in art. While others enjoy sport, we cater for those with an artistic touch as well,” said teacher, Hannes Lloyd.
“Currently we have entered the Cartoon Network Africa Animation Generation competition. Our learners had to design new characters for Cartoon Network and stand a chance to win great prizes. So we might even see some new heroes on TV that were created by Glencoe Primary learners. Our art classes are not only for the talented, as Mrs Cousins encourages and teaches our learners to improve their skills.
“Drawings and paintings are good for the soul, as it is relaxing and calming. So, when you are upset or down, the art class is the place to be. Drawing witches or dragons will make you feel so much better and none will be the wiser.”
