On November 26 Imbabazane Local Task Team (LTT) was at Bhekuzulu in ward 13. The purpose was to celebrate 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse. It was great moment to see the councillors and community speak in one voice saying ‘count me in’ and ‘no to women and children abuse’.

“Operation Sukuma Sakhe is fighting poverty and illness,” said Mr Nkabinde the Imbabazane Local Task Team (LTT) Chairperson who also said LTT members visit one of the wards in Imbabazane Local Municipality every month. They are accompanied by all the government departments to deliver their services.

Mayor Mrs PG Strydom, ward councillors Mr Ndumo, Cllr MA Mkhize, Cllr Mvelase, Cllr SJ Nhlabathi, Cllr Mlangeni and some of the councillors from the from Amahlubi Tribal Authority were the part of the event and there were there to say no to women and child abuse.
Mr Zungu from the Justice Department was part of the event. He said if you are a woman or child being abused; report it to the police to deal with it.

Sne Kunene from the Social Development Department said that assistance may be sought from the department. Thando Shabalala from Independent Electoral Commission urged people to register to vote.

He also explained to the community about the merger that will take place next year between Imbabazane and Umtshezi local municipalities.
Mpilo from the Sport and Recreation Department encouraged healthy lifestyles through exercise.

Mr Strydom from the Emergency Medical Services pleaded with the community not to abuse ambulance services. Mrs Ndima from the Education Department said if a child is being abused, it affects his/her schoolwork.

Other speakers included Mrs Fezile Dlamini from the Bhekuzulu Self-Sufficient Project and Slindile Nkande from the Health Department.
Mayor Mrs PG Strydom called on the community to protect each other.

She also thanked the community for welcoming the ministers that visited Imbabazane on October 28 during the Cabinet Day.
