A gushing flow of sewage on the Wembezi main road is an eye sore. The broken pipes and overflowing manholes spew the vile contents into a nearby river, which sustains animals and is utilised by humans.

Christopher Ntombela, who lives in Wembezi, has been monitoring these sewage leaks and reported it to the Ward Councillor as well as Uthukela District Municipality.

The repercussions of these leaks have prompted Mr Ntombela to repeatedly report it but he has had to positive response and fears that none may be forthcoming.

“Uthukela management must do something to fix this leak because it goes into the river; they have been notified a long time ago. The community must be aware of what they are drinking,” commented Mr Ntombela.
