Cycads stolen from charity organisation

Two cycads were stolen from New Age Of Newcastle (NAON) premises in Jasmine Street, Suryaville

Two cycads were stolen from New Age Of Newcastle (NAON) premises in Jasmine Street, Suryaville, last Wednesday evening.

“They were donated to us for our tea garden and I find it very sad people would steal from an NGO,” said Ally Hoosen, on behalf of NAON.

The crime was detected by Krish Ramdhani, NAON member.

“When I got to the premises, I was standing at the gate when I noticed some sand. I first thought someone had dug a hole and it was only when I was inside …that I saw the two cycads had been stolen,” said Mr Ramdhani.

NAON is an NGO that serves as a luncheon club and aids the less fortunate through charity drives, making a positive impact on lives.

The theft of the two cycads left a bitter taste.

“Even if we do not get them back, I am hoping we can deter criminals from returning,” said Mr Hoosen.

Anyone with information can contact Mr Ramdhani on 082 889 6128.
