Police have released more details on last night’s attack in the Swart Mfolizi, Gluckstad area, Vryheid, which claimed the life of a man and his father-in-law.

The owner,  Billy van Rooyen (37) , passed away soon after the farm attack due to a gunshot wound to the head .
His father in law Ronnie Lombard  (62) passed away on Wednesday morning. He was shot in his back.
Major Thulani Zwane said 12 armed men arrived at the main house at about 8.30pm which is situated within a shopping complex.

The suspects subsequently fired shots and injured three victims. Mr van Rooyen died on his way to the hospital.  The other two victims were admitted at the local hospital where Mr Lombard succumbed to his injuries. The suspects robbed one of the injured victims of cash before fleeing the scene. Quick  reaction and follow up by surrounding farmers led to the  arrest of six suspects less than an hour after the farm murder.
The getaway vehicle was also seized. Two counts of murder, attempted murder and house robbery are being investigated by  Gluckstadt SAPS.
