Update: uThukela Mayor stops protest

uThukela Mayor Dudu Mazibuko spoke to the protesters and an agreement was reached

A protest this morning (Thursday) on the Pieters road saw that route being blocked.

uThukela Mayor Dudu Mazibuko spoke to the protesters and an agreement was reached. The protest came to an end at about midday and the road was opened.

Mayor Mazibuko will be going back to the area on May 15 to formally address the community regarding their grievances regarding sewage problems. Raw effluent evidently pushes up into people’s yards and homes, a problem they have been facing since 2003.
