IT may not have been swift, but justice has finally come for the victims of convicted rapist, Thamsanqa William Dlamini.

The 42-year-old repeat offender from Vryheid was convicted at Madadeni High Court last Friday and sentenced to life imprisonment, for the rape of a 27-year-old victim in May 2009. According to a media release from SAPS, Dlamini took the victim into his vehicle at gunpoint and raped her.

In addition, more than a decade after the fact, Dlamini will serve two concurrent ten-year sentences for two prior rapes which took place in May and September 2005. Dlamini raped a 17-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman after dragging them into bushes. The 20-year-old woman was attacked at knife point.

“Vryheid Family Violence‚ Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit’s persistence to put the accused behind bars is commended and will put all his victims at ease‚ knowing that he is where he belongs‚” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Shooz Magudulela.

Dlamini’s three sentences will run concurrently.
