CBD – In response to an eviction notice, illegal occupants in the Old Mutual Building left in the dead of the night.
The landlord, Ehsan Hassim, said only two of the rooms were still occupied.

‘The two lots of people who are still there are refusing to leave. However, I am sending someone through to Newcastle to resolve the matter.”
Mr Hassim, who resides in Tzaneen, denied any knowledge of people living in the offices.
“The building manager told me he could organise tenants for the offices, but that they could not pay the deposit.”
It was only after the eviction notice was served by the municipality, Mr Hassim found out what was going on.

Supporting the eviction, Mr Hassim hoped the matter could be resolved speedily.
