The Legacy of Chief Albert Luthuli photographic exhibition is also still on display until March 2017 at the Carnegie Art Gallery.

December 1 – 3 – Visit the Carnegie Art Gallery to view artists at work, demonstrating different art techniques, such as painting, leather, fibre art, pastel, beadwork and many more.

Curator, Phumzile Dlamini said the workshop would be based on the current exhibition Igugu lesizwe –Our Pride, which is still on view until January 15, 2017.

“This exhibition features well-known artists such as Jenny de la Hunt, Nkule Mabaso, Ben Nsutsha, Kristin Hua Yang, Ziqubu Sicelo, Mbongeni Msani, Corinna Lemmer, Mbhele Mlungisi, Hlatshwayo Menzi, Chutel Ally, Elaine Barnard, Chovuchovu Nicky, Carine Siecker, Zenzele Buthelezi and many more young promising artists.”

Newcastle visual artists receive recognition, both nationally and internationally.

“Elaine Barnard has been selected to exhibit her work in Fibreworks IX exhibition Gutsche Family Investments (GFI) Art Gallery in Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and was recently preparing for an overseas show.”

Curator of Cape Town Michaelis School of Art, Nkule Mabaso, and the Director of Durban Art Gallery, Doctor Xakaza Mduduzi invited Mbongeni Msani and the Curator of the Carnegie Art Gallery, to art workshops at Essence Durban Festival 2016.

The Legacy of Chief Albert Luthuli photographic exhibition is also still on display until March 2017 at the Carnegie Art Gallery.

This exhibition is based on the life of Chief Albert Luthuli, who received the International Nobel Peace Prize, and who played an important role while he was teaching at Blaauwbosch Primary School in oSizweni from 1917 to 1918.

Don’t miss the demonstrations and skills workshops. Crafts that will be on sale from 9am to 2pm.
