Check your children’s work, principal urges parents
The Principal urged teachers to check whether the pupils are academically good or are they good in some skills.

The Spookmill Primary pupils can really be proud of their achievements as they presented the outstanding learners with awards at the annual prize-giving held in November 2 at the school which is based at Spookmill Farm in Dannhauser. Parents were urged to check their children’s school work.
The pupils who had achieved best results in some learning areas were awarded with certificates from grade R to 7.
Those who didn’t get certificates were also encouraged to study hard so that they can be best achievers in the future.
The principal of Impala High School, Khethiwe Nyathikazi, said young people have to work very hard in order to get the best results.
She said parents should check their children’s work all the time to make sure that their children do their homework and they complete their school work. “Co-operation between parents, teachers and pupils would make teaching and learning much easier and better the results of the pupils,” she said. Adding, “we are the product of our decisions.” She said “your future is upon yourselves.

As you receive these certificates you were anointed. We are not the same academically and some are more skillful,” she said. Nyathikazi also urged the teachers to check whether the pupils are academically good or are they good in some skills. She said, “use your talents if you are not gifted academically.”
Nyathikazi urged parents and teachers to talk about things which will expose the talents of pupils. She said there is no technical school in Dannhauser. “It is important to have a technical school because if a pupil is not gifted academically, he should take a technical path,” she said, adding that at primary level girls excelled academically and when they arrive in high school they under-perform. Nyathikazi said everyone must work together to mould our children and to create a better future for them.
The Spookmill Primary School Principal, Wiseman Mkhaliphe, said parents are forced to help their children. “We have a vision and goals to promote teaching and learning,” he said, adding that co-operation between parents and pupils would make a brighter future for our children. He said as teachers they should not just focus on teaching but also focus on pupils’ behaviour.
