Traffic officer assaulted in Harding Street

"While addressing the traffic offence committed by the 26-year-old man, the traffic officer was assaulted"

A local traffic offer who was on duty last Monday was met with aggression whilst executing his tasks.

The 27-year-old was on duty in Harding Street at about 9.45am when he approached a driver who had allegedly committed a traffic offence.

“While addressing the traffic offence committed by the 26-year-old man, the traffic officer was assaulted,” said police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

The man was arrested and he appeared briefly in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, November 22. The case has been remanded for December 13.
