Traffic Department eyes festive motorists
The Traffic Department, SAPS, emergency services and other stakeholders launched this year’s Road Safety Campaign near the intersection of Allen Street and the N11.
ARBOR PARK – Road abusers beware – officials are gunning for a clean sheet this festive season.
On Monday, the Traffic Department, SAPS, emergency services and other stakeholders launched this year’s Road Safety Campaign near the intersection of Allen Street and the N11.
The campaign began with an official roadblock.

Before the operation commenced, Mayor, Makhosini Nkosi urged his traffic officials to make Newcastle proud through their actions.
He asked for bravery no matter who was in the wrong.
Likewise, Amajuba District Mayor, Dr Musa Ngubane said a message had to be sent to motorists across the district.
He called on strict control of the roads, even beyond the call of duty.

The Mayors then joined officials at the roadblock, where license disks and driver’s licenses were checked for any outstanding infractions or violations.
Information leaflets were distributed to motorists.
With an increased number of vehicles on the roads over the Christmas holidays and the New Year, motorists are urged to drive carefully and considerately.
As the campaign tagline said: “Drive safely, your family needs you.”
Motorists can rest assured officials will be out in full force going into the New Year and are cautioned to obey the rules of the road, or face the consequences.
