Carnegie promotes 2017 visual art activities
Curator, Phumzile Dlamini said it was clear the last three travelling and permanent exhibitions attracted many visitors, especially among the youth. To push more exhibitions, the gallery will be promoting more art workshops.
The Carnegie Art Gallery has showcased to great success its visual art exhibitions.
Curator, Phumzile Dlamini said it was clear the last three travelling and permanent exhibitions attracted many visitors, especially among the youth. To push more exhibitions, the gallery will be promoting more art workshops.

“We are encouraging both adults and youth from different backgrounds especially those who are not working to attend the gallery artistic skills workshops such as art drawing, painting, beadwork, hand embroidery, wire weaving, wool weaving and tie dye. By attending these workshops the crafters and artists will learn to work together as group, produce a quality product, price and sell your products and generate subsistence income to support themselves as well as their families.”
She said the gallery needed support from all stakeholders to help upgrade the artistic talents of artist, in order to participate in national and international shows.
“Those who can donate with canvasses, brushes, paints, paper, embroidery cotton, beads, telephone wire, linen fabrics and pastels are welcome to do so.”
She also encouraged more people to join the gallery annual membership.
As a member, you will be notified of the gallery’s quarterly activities, such as exhibitions, workshops, talks, art competitions and craft fairs.
The membership form, as well as the exhibition space request form, are available at the gallery.
Carnegie Art Gallery invites all members of the public to join the 2017 gallery activities.

Carnegie is open every Tuesday to Friday from 9am – 4pm, and Saturday from 9am to – 1pm.
