Given the track record of his meticulous academic foot print, it came as no surprise.

However what sets this 19-year-old apart is his self-disciplined, perfectionism and dedication to his goals.

Yathil attended at Newcastle Senior Primary, and effortlessly received the Dux award in Grade 7.

Maintaining a constant standard, he has strived to be the best ever since.

Principal of Newcastle High School, Manny Govender, said he convinced Yathil to attend NHS.

“I knew from the start Yathil was destined for great things,” he said.

As the youngest child in his family, Yathil has transcended his parents Dhinesh and Shamila’s, expectations and was ultimately rewarded for his hard work and commitment by obtaining eight distinctions.

Channelling his ‘inner Einstein’, this brainiac also completed an Advanced Maths course online as an extra subject.

“It felt good to do it, but it was quite difficult. The level of questioning was a challenge.”

Advanced Maths is tested at first level university Maths, and Yathil obtained an 88 per cent pass.

“The course was web-enhanced, and I used only the study material provided.”
