Multi-million rand dagga bust
Following up on an anonymous tip-off on the morning of January 26, the team focused on conducting searches in the Moyeni and Dukuza areas
A total of 89 bags of dagga were seized recently by police officers from the Upper Tugela area and members from the South African National Defence Force.
Following up on an anonymous tip-off on the morning of January 26, the team focused on conducting searches in the Moyeni and Dukuza areas.
“The suspects immediately fled from their homesteads and hid in the mountains when the team arrived at their target areas,” commented police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Ahmed Khan.
During the successful operation, officers recovered 28 bags of dagga in the Moyeni area and 61 bags in the Dukuza area. The recovered dagga weighs just over 1 000 kilograms and has an estimated street value of approximately R2 million.
