Police bust foreign nationals for drug possession

An Iveco minibus, laden with over 200 kilograms of dagga, carried five people whose destiny was intercepted by police.

Sealed packages of dagga were discovered inside the vehicle when Amangwe police officers stopped the vehicle and searched it and the occupants.

This was during a stop-and-search operation held in the Nkomokazini area of Loskop on February 7 at about 9pm.

The five occupants, four of which have been identified by police as foreign nationals from Lesotho, were immediately arrested and charged for drug possession.

They are aged 21, 35, 36, 49 and 55 and appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates Court on February 8.

“The dagga weighs 222kgs and has an estimated street value of around R350 000,” said police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
