During the early hours of Thursday morning a 36-year-old man was roused by police officers from the Pietermaritzburg Public Order Police (POP) Unit.
The members descended on the homestead in the Ngonyameni area of Loskop, after receiving information about an unlicensed firearm.
When police arrived at the homestead, their search yielded an unlicensed Z88 pistol and ten rounds of ammunition.
In addition, two plastic bags containing dagga seeds were recovered.
“The suspect faces charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of unlicensed ammunition and possession of dagga seeds,” commented police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
