Ladysmith Tactical Response Team (TRT) officers arrested two people last night (February 28) on charges relating to the possession and manufacturing of illegal drugs.
At about 5.30pm, police were following up on information about a possible drug dealer operating in the Ladysmith CBD. This led them to a business in Kandahar Avenue, where they arrested one suspect who was found in possession of cocaine.
The police officers then dug a little deeper and discovered that there was a flat in the Illing Road area of Ladysmith which was the source of the drugs.

Police arrested a second suspect and upon searching the premises, they discovered that the suspects had been using the flat to manufacture drugs.
A small stove and cooking pots were used to do their “dirty deeds”. Police seized various items as evidence, which included the stove, pots, measuring scale, cocaine, drug capsules and raw materials used in the manufacturing of the drugs.
The two suspects, a man and woman aged 43 and 32 respectively, are set to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (March 2).
For now, the estimated street value of the drugs is estimated to be around R100,000.
The drugs and raw materials will be sent away for forensic testing to determine exactly what each product is.
