36 people arrested over past 2 weeks in Uthukela Cluster

These crime prevention operations are aimed at addressing the underlying, predisposing factors of more serious crimes

Over 30 people have been arrested as a result of various crime prevention activities conducted over the past two weeks by officers attached to the 16 police stations in the Uthukela Cluster.

36 people, aged between 18 and 70 years old, were arrested and have appeared in the various courts in the Uthukela Cluster during this time.

The arrested persons face charges such as selling liquor without a licence, possession of and dealing in drugs, being in possession of suspected stolen property, being in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition, driving while under the influence of liquor, as well as being drunk in public.

One pistol and eight rounds of ammunition were recovered, as well as dagga.

These successes are part of crime prevention operations that are aimed at addressing the underlying, predisposing factors of more serious crimes.
