2 young criminals caught in the act during break-in in Surat Road

They were quickly apprehended by Dog Unit and police officers

Two young housebreakers, aged between of 18 and 20 years old, were caught in the act earlier today (March 3) in Surat Road.

The two were caught in a house that was vacant and up for sale.

Residents from Surat Road quickly contacted the police and also put out a distress call on a community group, as they saw the two men go in.

Police, including the Ladysmith Dog Unit, arrived promptly at the scene and entered the premises by jumping over the front gate.

Police found the two young criminals removing all the copper pipes from the house and also stealing the taps from all the sinks.

They were apprehended by K9 and police officers.

A large crowd of onlookers and children from nearby schools gathered to see what was going on.

Residents of the area were shocked to see how young the thieves were.
