The IFP are currently leading in the hotly contested Nquthu by-elections.
Out of the 17 wards available, the IFP have won 11 and the ANC have won 3.
The results for the other 3 wards are yet to be finalised.
The KwaZulu-Natal government dissolved the Nquthu council in February after it failed to elect its leaders, including the mayor and speaker, following the August 3 local government elections.
In that election the IFP won 15 seats, the ANC 14, the NFP two, and the DA and EFF one seat each.
