2 000 homes for the community in Dutch

The municipality has prioritised not just building houses, but building communities, which will restore the dignity of the people

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Mayor Councillor Jabu Mbele takes community upliftment and betterment seriously and plans to deliver to the people. The municipality, on May 11 introduced another project that will see 2 000 households built.

The municipality has prioritised not just building houses, but building communities, which will restore the dignity of the people.
Addressing the Dutch community, the Mayor said the project includes the community that was not part of the previous public participation meetings.

“We do not dictate to our people, we are democrats. We implement projects based on the needs of the people. We have a dream that this project will be completed in time, so that we can officially hand the houses over to our people. As the municipality, we feel that we must always do something to put smiles on the faces of all those who trusted us to lead them,” said Mrs Mbele.

Thami Shezi from More Fortune Consultants will be leading this project. He explained the processes of the project and also said he would be willing to work with the community. He said that members of the community who have small businesses are welcome to work as sub-contractors.

“This project will create job opportunities for the community of Dutch. You must have representatives that will form part of the committee that will work hand-in-hand with us. The Ward Councillor must help you to choose trusted and energetic individuals who will be responsible for communicating the stages of the project with you, as the community” said Mr Shezi.

Councillor Mvelase requested that the community work with him and the contractor in order to fast track the implementation and meet the time frames allocated for the project to be complete.
