uThukela District Municipality Exco member and chairperson of Water, Sanitation, Technical & Health Services Cllr MV Khumalo recently introduced the contractor to install water pipes (bulk and reticulation) at Jononoskop under Alfred Duma Municipality. He was accompanied by Inkosi Khumalo, Cllr Kubheka of Ward 14, Cllr Dubazane of Ward 23 and Cllr Nxumalo of Ward 24.
This is the Hobsland-to-Indaka Stage 2 Water Project.
It is expected that more than 40 temporary job opportunities will be created and 2466 households will benefit from the project in the areas of Matiwane and Jononoskop.
The project itself is funded by the Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant (RBIG) and will cost over R39 million to implement.

Members of the community appreciated the fact that about a month ago, uThukela Mayor Siphiwe Mazibuko visited the area as part of the IDP Budget roadshows, whereby he assured them that the contractor would be introduced in the area to install water pipes so as to access potable and hygienic water.
To these people, it was a dream come true, as they indeed felt that the mayor had honoured his words.
