Streetlight pole poses deadly danger in Ladysmith?

Residents say the support structure is a danger, as people can barely see it at night

Residents and motorists of Leonardsville who use Madras Road are deeply concerned about a support structure holding up a streetlight pole in the road.

Motorists fear that this support structure will cause a deadly accident, as it stands right on the corner of Madras Road and is almost impossible to see when turning from Kandahar Avenue, not to mention at night when it’s dark.

“As a councillor in this area, people and motorists have been complaining about this support structure. I went out and actually saw it myself.

The pole is right at the corner of Madras Road, which makes it very dangerous for motorists. I have also filed a complaint with the municipality, but no one seems to bother helping out,” said IFP Councillor Bhoobun.

She urges the municipality to at least paint black and white stripes on the structure for motorists to see from a distance.

Cllr Bhoobun and Leonardsville residents are issuing a plea to the municipality to please do something about this situation before a tragic accident happens.
