Mixed bag for local Dundee league golfers
The social darts league, games being played every Wednesday evening, kicked off last week with eight teams competing.

A lovely warm winter’s day saw 30 golfers taking part in the June Monthly Mug competition at Dundee Country Club on Saturday. In the Men’s A division Aaron Mbatha was a comfortable winner of his division with a net score of 68, four shots ahead of second place Kallie Roets who finished on a net 72. Kallie did, however, pick up the prize for the best gross score when shooting a 76.
The competition in the Men’s B division was a lot closer affair as Richard Catlett, recording a net 71, managed to win the Mug by one shot over a couple of players who finished with a 72 net.
Unfortunately, there was another poor turnout to the Ladies competition, which saw Debbie Catlett winning the B division and Hlengiwe Hlongwane taking home the ladies C division Mug.
There were only two players who managed to record a 2 Club on the day, and they were Kallie Roets on the eighth and Billy Francis on the 12th hole.
The second round of the N. KZN Men’s local league took place at Glencoe on Sunday which saw mixed results for the Dundee teams as our “B1” side went down 5-7 to Newcastle while the “B2” team managed to hold out against a very strong Kilbarchan side to draw their game 6-6.
The social darts league, games being played every Wednesday evening, kicked off last week with eight teams competing.
After the first round only two teams, Scania and The Pink Panthers, managed to be victorious in both their games.
Family members and friends are urged to come and support the players on Wednesday evenings and take advantage of the pub and kitchen specials that will be available.
This coming weekend’s fixtures: Friday 10 Hole Meat competition and Saturdays Club competition will be a 4 B.B.B.S. format, so please contact The Pro Shop to book your tee-off time.
