Litter problem compounded in the CBD

Once the next four weeks pass, it will mark a year since the illegal march of the National Freedom Party.

During the march, the disgruntled party members went on a rampage; breaking and toppling refuse bins within the central business district (CBD).

The then Acting Municipal Manager of the Umtshezi Municipality Elphas Dladla, said that more durable bins were in the process of being acquired. To date, the damaged bins have not been replaced.

Addressing these concerns, Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality‘s Cleansing Manager Hlanganani Hlongwane said: “The municipality has procured concrete bins for the CBD in order to replace the damaged bins and to include the areas without bins.

“The replacement of the damaged bins and the attendance of outstanding areas will be done by this Friday. We request that the public be patient with us for the next few days while the matter is currently being attended to.”
