Water leak, poor roads and no streetlights in Coral Lane, Ladysmith

Most of their streetlights haven't worked since the storm of 2012

Residents living in Coral Lane say they have had enough of poor service delivery in their street.

Resident Sameera Mohammed says there is a water leak in the road, resulting in clean water going to waste.

To add to the woes of those living in the street, most of their streetlights have not worked since the hailstorm of 2012 that caused so much damage. Numerous calls for help to the municipality have had no positive results.

Residents complain that the roadway itself is in a poor condition, having been dug up for pipes to be laid. The road has simply been left in this state. Being a dead-end road, people need to turn to get out, yet they can’t.

Residents contacted IFP councillor Abbas Warasally to tell him about all their problems and that nothing ever gets done about the unsatisfactory situation.

Since then, Cllr Warasally has reported all the problems to the correct offices for them to be addressed.

Residents want their problems sorted out pronto, as they pay rates and taxes and say they deserve better treatment from the ‘powers that be’.
