Sniping between ANC and IFP continues after Nquthu elections

"The vandalising and stealing of such infrastructure is wrong and should be reported as such and not to be used as a tool by a political party to try and garner public sympathy based on a fabrication."

The elections may be over in Nquthu but the sniping between the IFP and the ANC, still smarting over its defeat in the municipal by-elections on May 24, is continuing.
MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube has rubbished claims by IFP MPL Blessed Gwala that it has withdrawn Jojo Tanks that were provided to communities in Nquthu before the elections.
Mr Gwala accused the ANC of ‘punishing the community for not supporting the ANC and taking away services’.
MEC Dube-Ncube said Mr Gwala’s ‘hallucinations have gone beyond the limit and he needs urgent assistance.’
“The reality is that the new Nquthu council has a certain standard of delivery that it has to meet, as displayed by the Provincial Government when it was administering this Municipality.

The newly installed Mayor of Nquthu, Mabilabila Kunene, receives an enthusiastic welcome from supporters.

The spreading of fake news by the IFP in efforts to garner public sympathy is short-sighted and disingenuous.
“The infrastructure that has been put into the Municipality by the department is permanent.
“The Jojo tanks and the standpipes are built into concrete foundations and are not easily movable. We have not issued any instruction for the removal of such infrastructure as taxpayers funds were used to build it and are for the benefit of the people of Nquthu.
Cogta will continue to support and see to it that the people of Nquthu get better services.
“We also understand that not everyone will be happy with these monuments of service delivery which have been put by this government into this Municipality as a benchmark which the incoming administration will be benchmarked against.
“The vandalising and stealing of such infrastructure is wrong and should be reported as such and not to be used as a tool by a political party to try and garner public sympathy based on a fabrication.”
