After numerous complaints by IFP councillor L Bhoobun, as well as the community of Leonardsville, the support structure holding up a damaged streetlight pole has been removed by the municipality.

The streetlight pole is at the corner of Madras Road and one of the support beams was jutting out dangerously into the road. Residents complained that motorists would not be able to see it in time.

The community is now happy that the municipality heard their cries and got rid of the potentially dangerous support structure.
Residents feared that, at night, motorists wouldn’t be able to see the support beam at all. “With Madras Road being a busy street, it was an accident waiting to happen,” said one resident.
“I am very pleased that the municipality has taken us into consideration and gotten rid of the pole. Motorists can now drive in peace knowing that there isn’t any overlapping pole to worry about,” said Councillor Bhoobun.
