Manhole a danger to Ladysmith residents in Corrigal Road

Residents feel that the municipality should do something about this situation before a person or an animal falls into the hole

A manhole that has been left open for a long time has Corrigal Road residents concerned about the dangers it may pose.

Residents fear that an accident might happen, as it is impossible to see at night. The manhole is on the pavement and even during the day, you wouldn’t know it was open until you were right on top of it, so to speak.

“This is a dangerous situation for people walking there, as well as wandering animals in the area.

“We read a lot about animals being trapped in manholes in the Gazette, and the municipality seems to pay no mind in closing them up,” said Ladysmith resident Christopher Fobian.

Residents of Corrigal Road plead with the municipality to come and close the manhole properly, or cordon off the area so people coming from a distance can see that there’s a gaping hole.

Residents feel that the municipality should do something about this situation before a person or an animal falls into the hole, injuring themselves in the process. It is also difficult to get an animal out of a manhole once it has fallen inside.
