Update: Massive manhunt for suspects after armed robbery at wholesaler in Ladysmith

Staff members heard guns being cocked and were ordered to get down on the floor

Police have launched a massive manhunt after an armed robbery took place at Buy ‘n Save in Illing Road this morning (June 28).

6 thugs armed with guns and knives were involved in the robbery.

It is believed that three of the men monitored the business and waited for the store to open.

They then alerted their accomplices to go in. Staff members heard guns being cocked and were ordered to get down on the floor.

Cash and personal belongings were stolen from staff and customers. The robbers then proceeded to help themselves to money out of the safe and cash registers, also taking cigarettes and airtime.

Suspects fled on foot.

No one was injured, but staff and customers are traumatised after the horrific ordeal.

Management is grateful that no one was injured. “Robberies can happen anywhere; we’re just delighted that no one was hurt or killed,” is the message from management.

K9 Unit officers are hunting for the suspects who robbed the store.
