11 suspects face charges of public violence in Ladysmith

They were arrested in Ekuvukeni on Wednesday during a service delivery protest in the area

11 suspects between the ages of 15 and 32 years old appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday (June 29), facing charges of public violence.

They were arrested in Ekuvukeni on Wednesday (June 28) during a service delivery protest in the area.

The protesters stoned municipal buildings and when police intervened, they turned their attention on the officers and stoned the police station as well as other government buildings situated next to the municipal buildings.

A police vehicle was also damaged during the incident.

No injuries were reported.
