Two men have been convicted and sentenced for carjacking. The sentence was handed down in the Ladysmith Regional Court on Monday (June 26) and stems from a crime that took place on January 26, 2015, in the St Chad’s area.
The accused flagged down a delivery vehicle, pretending to want to buy bread. When the driver stopped, he had a gun pointed at him and was taken to the back of the vehicle, where he was locked up. He was later released after the load was stolen.
The stolen vehicle was recovered by Ladysmith police the same afternoon. Officers from the Ladysmith K9 Unit arrested both suspects about a month later.

Sizwe Medunsa Dlamini (22) was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment and was found unfit to possess a firearm. Co-accused Senzo Enock Sithole (32) was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and was also found unfit to possess a firearm.
The case docket was investigated by officers from the Ladysmith Cluster Task Team.
