Cyclist killed after alleged hit and run on Ladysmith road

Paramedics found the man to be in a critical condition

A cyclist, believed to be in his 30s, was killed last night (June 29) in an alleged hit and run.

The crash took place on the Hobsland road, which is a gravel road just outside of Ladysmith.

Neighbours of the cyclist said they were travelling home when they saw him lying face-down at the roadside.

They say the man was cycling home from work on the gravel road. They stopped and promptly called emergency personnel.

Paramedics found the man to be in a critical condition and immediately started with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Public Safety and police responded to the scene.

The cyclist was transported to a Ladysmith hospital, where he was declared dead after CPR was terminated.

Police will be investigating the incident.
