Six men aged between 24 and 45 were arrested for stock theft in two separate cases during the course of last week.
On April 23 this year, six goats were stolen in the St Chad’s area. The crime was reported to the police and officers from the Ladysmith Stock Theft Unit were tasked with the investigation.
The officers followed leads and recently arrested three suspects in connection with the theft. They were also successful in recovering three of the stolen animals.
The suspects appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court early last week and were granted R3000 bail.

In a separate incident that occurred last week, two cattle were stolen from a farm in the Besters area. Three suspects aged between 24 and 26 were arrested and one carcass has been recovered.
The suspects also appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court last week and have been remanded in custody until Monday, July 17, when they will appear in court again.
All the suspects face charges of stock theft.
