
As early as 7.30am, police were on high alert as Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader, Julius Malema‘s land invasion trial was heard at the Newcastle Regional Court.
In anticipation of the trial, the court gallery was packed to capacity.

EFF supporters, members of the public and a high police presence welcomed the red beret leader.
Police dogs and the bomb disposal unit swept the Magistrates Court prior to the trial.
According to the charge sheet, the EFF leader is accused of incitement to commit a crime.

During court proceedings, Magistrate, Theunis Colditz heard heated exchanges between State Prosecutor, Jabulani Mlotshwa and Malema’s lawyer, Tumi Mokoena.
“We are intending to approach the High Court for an order, for a decision to prosecute in this case to be be reviewed,” said Mokoena.
“The state was informed at 10.30pm last night about this application,” Mlotshwa replied.
