Electricity cable thieves strike again
Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity relating to cable theft to their nearest police or the municipal call center
Electricity cable theft disrupts lives.
It affects schools, homes and businesses, leaving a trail of interruptions. Evidence of electricity cable theft has been discovered recently.
Staff from the Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality’s electrical department found cable insulating materials in concealed areas.
It has been found on the railway tracks behind McFarlane Street and Subway Road, near the river at Lambert Park and behind Drakensberg Secondary School.
Cables are being stolen from municipal substations and boxes and then sold. Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity relating to cable theft to their nearest police or the municipal call center on 036 352 6464/4444.
