Raw effluent has filled up a yard in Phillip Frame Road due to blocked manholes in the area.
Resident Isabel Roux says that from the past weekend, the manhole in her yard and also her neighbours’ yard have been overflowing non-stop and the problem seems to be getting worse and worse.
IFP councillor Abbas Warasally went out to the house on Monday and was appalled by the conditions the people have to live in.
Cllr Warasally and homeowner Isabel Roux have both reported the problem to uThukela, yet nothing has been done about it.

Isabel says the stench is unbearable and the sewer water is just flowing all over her yard. Now the water is even filling up the drains, which are blocked.
The blocked drains are stopping the stinking water from flowing away, says Isabel, adding that she doesn’t even want to let her dogs go outside.
“They run through the water. What if they drink it and get sick?” she asks.
Isabel wants the problem to be fixed and says she is shocked that after so many calls, nothing is being done to fix the problem.
