Fighting against women and child abuse in Ladysmith

There were dialogues between officials and students to better understand gender equality and the causes of violence directed towards women and children

Alfred Duma Local Municipality, working hand-in-hand with uThukela District Municipality (Youth Office) and the Gender Equality Organisation, held a programme in the Steadville Community Hall on July 22, focusing on the fight against women and child abuse.

The theme was “Not In My Name”, with male students from Steadville and Silindokuhle Secondary School attending in numbers to say “No” to abuse in all its forms.

There were dialogues between officials and students to better understand gender equality and the causes of violence directed towards women and children.

The students then made a pledge that they would not harm women and children.
