Study shows using emojis in the workplace indicates incompetence and that you are most likely a woman

So this begs the question, just how sexist are people when judging emoji use?

Who would have thought a simple smiley emoji  in an email would indicate to work colleagues (you do not know or have never met in person) that you are incompetent and likely to be a  woman?

Feeling confused yet?

As part of the study, businessmen and women were asked to guess the sex of the person sending them emails.

The participants in the study almost universally indicated that the emails sent to them with emojis were sent by women and ones sent without emojis by men!

That’s right, using emojis in business emails not only makes people think you are a  woman, it also makes them believe you are not very professional and incompetent, according to the study.

So you can kiss that promotion goodbye

So think about the next text you send and especially the next email, as your emojis may be speaking volumes on your behalf and at times that may not be a good thing!
