Police have confirmed the shooting at a business in Scott Street on Sunday night, August 13, occurred during an alleged robbery.
According to Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Captain Jabulani Ncube, the deceased was shot by the owner of the establishment.
“A murder and business robbery is being investigated,” he said.
However, he could not confirm whether the business owner had been arrested at the time, but said the case was being investigated.
