Former security guards and job creation workers were striking outside Public Safety this morning (August 16).
The strike saw the security guards demanding their jobs back. In addition, the guards claim that they and some of the job creation workers did not receive an increase in July, when other municipal workers got their increase.
The workers blocked off the entrance to Public Safety with a garbage removal truck. No one could go in or out of Public Safety, as the truck was in their way.
Many people waited in their cars for the truck to move so they could leave the premises.

Workers from the Engineering Department could also not get to work, as the gates behind Public Safety were locked by the striking workers.
Police and Public Safety officers were on scene.
