Striking security guards block off Ladysmith Public Safety entrance with garbage truck

Police and Public Safety officers were at the scene

Former security guards and job creation workers were striking outside Public Safety this morning (August 16).

The strike saw the security guards demanding their jobs back. In addition, the guards claim that they and some of the job creation workers did not receive an increase in July, when other municipal workers got their increase.

The workers blocked off the entrance to Public Safety with a garbage removal truck. No one could go in or out of Public Safety, as the truck was in their way.

Many people waited in their cars for the truck to move so they could leave the premises.
