The five people accused of murder and conspiracy to murder after being found in possession of human remains have abandoned their bail application.

They appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court this morning before Magistrate Ms A Sookraj. With their heads covered with their jackets, the five men made their way from the holding cells shortly before 9.30am.

One of the men wept uncontrollably.

Legal Aid representative Miss T Hadebe told the court that the bail application would be abandoned.

Their next court appearance will be on September 28 for further investigation.

The five suspects were remanded in custody.
