Sarel 7s take home plate at Vryheid tournament
With only two days of practice, the boys did really well and made their school proud.
On Friday, August 25, and Saturday, August 26, Sarel Cilliers’ u/18 rugby boys took part in the annual Pionier High 7s tournament in Vryheid. Sarel only heard on the Wednesday that they would be playing because another school withdrew.
With only two days of practice, the boys did really well and made their school proud.
They showed character and they had to play against schools like Glenwood, Westville, Rustenburg and Wilgerrivier on their way to win the Plate Final with a score of 26-5.
Congratulations to these boys for showing that with the right attitude, believing in yourself and your team mates, and using your individual skills to its full potential, nothing can stop you.
Captain, Menzi Mabaso, must get a pat on the back for leading this team with a lot of u/16s to success and kept our motto ‘never surrender’ high.
Wrestling
This past weekend the KZN Wrestling Championship took place in Richards Bay. Sarel Cilliers boys dominated the 54 to 58 kg weight division for boys u/15. Zipho Buthelezi won gold, Ndlovu won silver and Kim Cason bronze. Keegan Basson won gold in the 54 to 58 kg weight division for boys u/17.
