Suspects appear in court for shooting and killing Ladysmith police officer

The policeman worked at the Ezakheni Detective Service

Two suspects aged 25 and 31 appeared in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning (August 31), facing charges of murder and robbery.

This follows an incident on Sunday evening, August 27, just before 8pm, when 56-year-old Warrant Officer Vusumuzi Zebulon Sibaya was shot and killed in front of his home in Ezakheni.

The policeman worked at the Ezakheni Detective Service and had over 35 years’ service in the SAPS.

He was making his way home after working standby duties when he was attacked and his state firearm taken.
