The public have been warned not to set fires in and around Ladysmith, as the dry conditions and high winds make the chances of a runaway fire incredibly likely.

This fire started yesterday (September 14) afternoon and came close to nearby residential homes, but luckily homeowners were able to stop the fire from spreading onto their property.

The fire department was on hand to monitor the veld fire.

Residents are warned not to start any fires in this very dry fire season.
