
17 females aged between 19 and 54 years old, as well as eight males aged between 16 and 46 appeared in the Ekuvukeni Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (September 19). All 25 suspects were detained late Monday afternoon and stood accused of public violence.
They collectively used rocks, trees and burning tyres to block the roadway between Amakhasi and Hlathi 4, which is in the Ekuvukeni area close to Ladysmith.

The group staged the protest due to alleged lack of service delivery in the area.
Police will be monitoring the situation.
