Illegal dumping has been taking place in open veld in Alexandra Street, creating an eyesore for motorists and pedestrians alike.
The veld is used by many people as a route to get into town, but the dumping is getting worse day by day.
Beer bottles, discarded clothing and other rubbish is strewn all over the place.
“I see many schoolchildren also using this veld as a way to get back to their homes. This poses a very real health hazard. The area is unhygienic and dangerous,” said a concerned resident. “The municipality needs to come and clean it up,” added the resident.
