CRIME: Man arrested for Hilltop farm murder

While the suspect managed to hide from the might of the law for nearly three months, police finally arrested him on September 20, and he was charged for murder.

Police arrested a man from Hilltop Farm in Dannhauser, for the murder of 35-year-old Sakhile Khoza.

According to Dannhauser SAPS Corporate Communications Liaison officer, Sergeant Mfanafuthi Nyembe, the murder occurred on June 23 this year.

“The suspect went to Hilltop Tavern at about 11.40pm and forcefully entered the closed tavern by breaking the wall to gain entry. When inside, the suspect demanded cash and then proceeded to stab the tavern attendant several times with a sharp object. The suspect then took about R2 500 and fled the scene, while shooting at the owner who gave chase.”

While the suspect managed to hide from the might of the law for nearly three months, police finally arrested him on September 20, and he was charged for murder.

The 30-year-old appeared in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court; the case was postponed to September 27 pending further investigation.
