Estcourt will be the focus of national and international attention again this week.
This is when the six men who were found in possession of female human remains appear in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court.
Thursday, September 28 will see Nino Mbatha (32), Lindokuhle Masondo (32), Sthembiso Sithole (31) Lungisani Magubane (30, Khayelihle Lamula (32) and a sixth man arrested in Port Shepstone appear before the magistrate.

They face charges ranging from murder to possession of human organs and tissue. The five suspects arrested in Estcourt and Loskop abandoned their bail application on August 28 and have been remanded in custody.

In one of the most bizarre cases in Estcourt, one of the men confessed to police that he had been eating human flesh and ‘was tired’ of it. Police proceeded to a home in Rensburgdrift where the human remains of a woman were found.
Three people, one a traditional healer, were arrested within a few hours. Investigations resulted in further arrests, which spanned to Port Shepstone.
Police have since confirmed that the human remains that were found belonged to 25-year-old Zanele Hlatshwayo.
